The International Web Resource

A Global Reference for Devotion, Study, and Documentation

Welcome to the official international web resource dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo (1538–1584) — Cardinal, Archbishop of Milan, leading figure of the Counter-Reformation, and tireless shepherd of the Church.

Introducing the International Web Resource on Saint Charles Borromeo

We are pleased to present a new international web resource dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo—a comprehensive digital platform designed as a reference point for scholars, clergy, devotees, and all those seeking to deepen their understanding of the life, legacy, and spirituality of this great saint of the Catholic Church.

This initiative has been ideated and promoted by the Church and Confraternity of Saint Charles Borromeo in Lugano, Switzerland, rooted in over four centuries of tradition and devotion centred on the patron saint of the Diocese of Lugano.

Saint Charles Borromeo (1538–1584) was a cardinal and Archbishop of Milan, a leading figure of the Counter-Reformation who instituted fundamental reforms in the Church and guided the implementation of the decrees of the Council of Trent. He is remembered for his pastoral zeal, his care for the poor during famine and plague, and his relentless pursuit of ecclesial renewal.

The Faculty has conducted dedicated studies on Saint Charles Borromeo, including international conferences and forums that have brought together theologians, historians, and pastoral ministers to reflect on his relevance for the 21st century. These studies and scholarly discussions have contributed valuable research, enriching the content and orientation of this web resource.
